Lomira, WI – A serious injury crash was reported in the Village of Lomira shortly after 9 a.m. Friday, prompting a multi-agency emergency response and an ongoing investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, a sergeant assigned to Lomira responded after dispatchers received an automatic crash notification from an iPhone indicating a serious collision. The alert included GPS data, allowing deputies to quickly focus on the area of Industrial Drive between East Avenue and Main Street.

Upon arrival, the sergeant located a single-vehicle crash involving one occupant. The driver, a lone individual, was found injured after the vehicle left the roadway and came to rest near a tree line roughly 50 or more yards from Industrial Drive. Officials said the crash site was not easily visible from the road.

Investigators determined the vehicle was traveling southbound on Industrial Drive when it left the roadway to the left, crossed a field, traversed a hill, passed over a frozen retention pond, and ultimately struck a tree after crossing the opposite bank of the pond.

The driver, a 37-year-old man from Milwaukee, was transported to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac with serious injuries. Authorities said he was later transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison for further treatment. The injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

The sheriff’s office said speed at the time of the crash and improper seat belt use were factors contributing to the severity of the injuries. Investigators are also examining whether a medical condition may have played a role in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Wisconsin State Patrol, Lomira Fire Department and First Responders, Mayville EMS, Theresa Fire Department, and Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue paramedics. A medical helicopter was requested, but none were able to respond due to weather and visibility conditions.

Questions regarding the crash may be directed to Dodge County Sheriff Dale J. Schmidt.
