Burnett, WI – A fatal traffic crash is under investigation in Dodge County after a passenger car collided head-on with a semi early Thursday morning, leaving one man dead.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 6:19 a.m. Thursday, January 8, to County Highway A near Prospect Road in the Town of Burnett after a 911 caller reported a vehicle driving erratically and crossing the centerline. The caller remained on the line with dispatchers as a deputy attempted to locate the vehicle.

Authorities said the deputy was traveling southbound on County Highway A near Beaver Dam when the caller reported the car had struck a semi head-on near Juneau.

The driver of the passenger car was the sole occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene. On Friday, January 9, the sheriff’s office identified the victim as 33-year-old Justin Dean of Whitewater, Wisconsin.

The driver of the semi was identified as 38-year-old Richard Walker of Burnett, Wisconsin. According to officials, he was the only occupant of the semi, was not injured, and was evaluated and released at the scene by medical personnel.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Horicon Fire Department and EMS, Burnett Fire Department and First Responders, Juneau Fire Department, and the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office.
