Lomira, WI – A late-night apartment fire in Dodge County claimed one life and left a firefighter injured Saturday, according to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. The blaze broke out around 11:10 p.m. at a multi-unit building on County Road Y in Lomira.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Knowles Fire Department responded immediately and rescued three residents from the structure. Two were uninjured, while one resident—identified as Brandi Koelsch, 48, of Lomira—was pronounced deceased after being taken to St. Agnesian Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Knowles Fire Department received assistance from over a dozen agencies, including Lomira, Brownsville, Theresa, Kekoskee, Clyman-Lowell-Reeseville, Neosho, Horicon, Oakfield, and Campbellsport fire departments, as well as Mayville EMS and the City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department.

One firefighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries during rescue operations, authorities confirmed.

The Wisconsin State Fire Marshal’s Office and Wisconsin Department of Justice are assisting in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
