Dodge County, WI – Authorities in Dodge County have identified a Milwaukee woman injured in a serious crash near the Village of Lomira on Thursday morning.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched shortly after 9 a.m. on December 26 after an automated iPhone alert indicated a serious collision. The crash occurred off Industrial Drive between East Avenue and Main Street.

Deputies located a vehicle off the roadway about 50 yards from Industrial Drive. The driver, identified as 37-year-old Yvonne Young of Milwaukee, was found incoherent and suffering serious injuries. She was first taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac before being transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. Authorities said her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators determined Young’s vehicle had left the roadway, traveled across a frozen retention pond, and struck a tree line. The sheriff’s office said speed and improper seat belt use may have contributed to the crash. Weather and visibility were also poor at the time, preventing medical helicopters from flying.

Assisting at the scene were the Wisconsin State Patrol, Lomira Fire Department, Mayville EMS, Theresa Fire Department, and Fond du Lac paramedics. The investigation remains ongoing.
