Horicon, WI – A Sunday night fire that tore through a busy Horicon bar is now being investigated as an act of arson, according to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

The blaze broke out around 9:08 p.m. on October 19 in the 300 block of East Lake Street, where patrons were inside and an upstairs tenant was reportedly trapped on the roof. Fire crews from multiple departments quickly responded, extinguished the flames, and safely evacuated everyone from the building.

According to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, investigators believe the fire was intentionally set by a disgruntled patron who had been inside the bar earlier that night. Following a coordinated investigation between the Horicon Police Department and Dodge County detectives, 42-year-old Kevin Lentz of Hustisford was arrested and booked into the Dodge County Jail.

Lentz faces multiple charges, including arson, first- and second-degree recklessly endangering safety, and criminal damage to property. Authorities emphasized that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Several fire and emergency departments assisted in the response, including crews from Horicon, Burnett, Juneau, Iron Ridge, Hustisford, Mayville, and Kekoskee.

Questions regarding the investigation may be directed to Sheriff Dale J. Schmidt of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.
