Dodge City, Kan. – Weak thunderstorms are expected to drift into northern counties of west-central Kansas late Friday night into early Saturday, bringing a brief chance for showers before dissolving by mid-morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, Ellis and Trego counties hold the best chance of rainfall, with probabilities near 40%. Cities including Hays and Great Bend may see scattered showers, while communities farther south such as Dodge City and Pratt are looking at less than a 10% chance.
Forecasters say the storms should weaken as they slide south, leaving areas like Garden City, Liberal, and Ulysses mostly dry. Any rain that does reach the ground will be light and short-lived, reducing concerns for flooding or severe weather.
Drivers on U.S. 283 and I-70 near Hays could see wet roads during the early morning hours, though conditions should improve quickly after sunrise. Residents are advised to keep an eye on radar if traveling overnight but can expect improving weather by late Saturday morning.
More updates are possible if storm development shifts southward, but overall impacts are expected to remain minimal.
