Dodge City, Kansas – Mild and above-average temperatures are expected to persist across southwest Kansas over the next week, bringing a prolonged stretch of comfortable conditions and generally favorable travel weather along major routes such as U.S. Highway 50 and U.S. 283.
According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, daytime high temperatures from Wednesday through early next week are forecast to range from the upper 50s to low 70s across much of the region. Overnight lows will remain cooler, generally in the upper 20s to upper 30s, but no significant cold air outbreaks are expected.
Forecast data shows Wednesday highs near 56 to 62 degrees, followed by continued warming Thursday and Friday, when highs are expected to reach the upper 50s to mid-60s. By the weekend, temperatures are projected to climb into the upper 60s and low 70s for communities including Dodge City, Garden City, Liberal, and surrounding areas.
Early next week, highs may reach the low to mid-70s before settling back into the upper 60s by Tuesday. These temperatures are well above normal for mid-February in southwest Kansas and mark a notable break from typical winter conditions.
The extended mild stretch is expected to keep roadways dry and free of winter weather impacts. Travel conditions along U.S. 50, U.S. 283, and U.S. 56 are expected to remain favorable, with no snow or ice indicated in the forecast period. Winds are expected to remain manageable overall, though occasional breezy conditions are possible.
The National Weather Service emphasized that while temperatures will fluctuate slightly day to day, no major weather hazards are expected through at least the middle of next week.
The warming trend may be especially relevant for commuters, agricultural workers, students, and those planning long-distance travel or outdoor activities during the week.
Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring daily forecasts for any changes, but confidence remains high in a mild and quiet weather pattern across southwest Kansas.
