Dodge City, Kansas – Southwest Kansas has entered another prolonged stretch of dry weather, with no rain or snow forecast through at least Tuesday, January 21, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service office in Dodge City said recent rain and snow from late last week has ended, and the region is now expected to see zero chances of precipitation for the foreseeable future. Forecast models show no measurable rainfall or snowfall across southwest Kansas for at least the next eight days.

Meteorologists noted that longer-range guidance suggests dry conditions may persist even beyond that period, potentially extending through January 23. The dry pattern is expected to affect communities including Dodge City, Garden City, Liberal, Elkhart, and surrounding areas.

Weather Service graphics released Tuesday afternoon show southwest Kansas firmly within a large dry zone covering much of the central and western United States. No organized storm systems are currently projected to move into the region during the forecast window.

While dry weather reduces travel hazards and winter weather disruptions, extended periods without precipitation can impact soil moisture and agricultural planning during the winter season. Officials said no watches, warnings, or advisories are currently in effect related to precipitation.

The National Weather Service emphasized that forecast conditions are based on current guidance and could change if new weather systems develop. Residents are encouraged to monitor daily forecasts for updates, especially if the dry pattern continues longer than expected.
