Dodge City, KS – Residents across southwest Kansas can expect a return to warmer, drier conditions heading into the weekend, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service in Dodge City.

After recent storm systems brought unsettled weather, forecasters say a stable pattern is setting up beginning Thursday, September 25. High temperatures are projected to climb back into the low to mid-80s from Friday through Sunday across much of the region, including Ashland, Garden City, Liberal, and Hays.

According to the National Weather Service, the probability of precipitation drops to zero percent starting Thursday and remains there through at least Monday, September 29. The dry spell will mark a noticeable shift from the past week’s rain and thunderstorms.

Daytime highs on Friday are expected to reach 84°F in Dodge City, 82°F in Hays, and 86°F in Garden City. Similar readings are forecast through the weekend, with little change from day to day. Overnight lows will generally stay in the upper 50s to lower 60s, providing mild mornings before temperatures rise quickly in the afternoons.

Forecasters note that the combination of clear skies and warm afternoons could lead to dry soil conditions, particularly in areas that missed out on recent rainfall. Farmers, ranchers, and outdoor event planners may want to take advantage of the stable conditions, though the lack of precipitation could increase the need for irrigation in agricultural zones.

No significant storm systems are expected in the coming week, giving residents a stretch of calm and seasonably warm late-September weather.
