Dodge City, KS – Western Kansas will see a noticeable temperature roller coaster this week, beginning with warm, above-normal highs in the upper 60s and low 70s before a sharp cooldown arrives by the end of the week.

According to the National Weather Service Dodge City, Sunday through Wednesday will bring unseasonably mild conditions for mid-November. Dodge City is expected to reach highs around 68 to 70 degrees, while nearby communities such as Garden City, Liberal, and Ness City will see similar readings, often topping out between 69 and 73 degrees.

The warm stretch holds through mid-week as light southerly flow and mostly sunny skies help maintain the mild pattern. By Thursday, colder air begins pushing south, nudging highs down into the mid-50s across much of the region. The most significant temperature drop arrives Friday into Saturday, when high temperatures are projected to fall into the upper 40s to mid-50s, depending on location. Dodge City is forecast to reach only 52° Friday and 54° Saturday, marking a notable 15–20 degree swing from early-week values.

NWS forecasters say the cooldown is tied to a passing cold front that will introduce stronger northerly winds and a period of cooler, drier air. No major precipitation is expected with this system, but occasional breezy afternoons may accompany the temperature shift.

While the region is not anticipating any hazardous weather this week, residents should prepare for a much different feel by late week. Outdoor plans—especially morning activities—may require an extra layer as overnight lows drop into the 30s by the weekend.

Forecasters will continue updating local temperatures as the front approaches.
