Dodge City, Kan. – Drivers and residents across southwest Kansas will face scorching heat Monday as highs climb into the upper 90s, with humidity making it feel even hotter. By evening, isolated thunderstorms could spark across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, southeast winds near 10 mph, gusting up to 16 mph, will add to the dry, hot conditions during the afternoon. Rain chances remain low through most of the day, but storm potential grows to 10–25 percent by late evening, particularly in Garden City, Hays, and Liberal.
Communities from Dodge City to Pratt and Scott City will see temperatures peak between 95 and 100 degrees. The heat may stress outdoor workers and livestock, prompting health officials to advise limiting strenuous activity and drinking plenty of water. Any storms that develop Monday night could bring lightning and brief heavy rain, but widespread severe weather is not expected.
Residents should monitor local updates as conditions could shift quickly into the overnight hours. Additional advisories may be issued if storms become more organized.
