Baltimore, MD – The DMV region faces a rainy weekend as a slow-moving front brings showers, gusty winds, and potential thunderstorms through Sunday night. Sunday will see temperatures rise to an unseasonably warm 63°F before a cooling trend settles in next week.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin Saturday night and intensify Sunday morning. Areas along the I-95 corridor, including Baltimore and Washington, D.C., are likely to experience periods of heavy rain and isolated storms. Winds could gust up to 26 mph, particularly during peak storm hours Sunday afternoon. Wet roads are expected to cause delays on major routes, including I-695 and I-70.

Sunday night will see lingering showers before conditions gradually clear into Monday morning. Monday will bring a mix of clouds and sun, with temperatures reaching a high of 59°F. By Tuesday, the DMV region will see another round of rain in the evening, but dry, sunny weather is expected for New Year’s Day. Highs on Wednesday will hover near 51°F, offering ideal conditions for holiday activities.

Residents are encouraged to remain cautious when traveling, as heavy rain may reduce visibility and create slippery road conditions. Make sure to secure outdoor decorations and clear storm drains to prevent localized flooding during the heaviest rain.

The week ahead promises cooler but mostly dry weather, perfect for outdoor plans after the New Year. Keep an eye on updates from the National Weather Service for the latest conditions.
