Dixon, IL – A Franklin Grove man was arrested this week after Lee County deputies executed a search warrant connected to a theft and narcotics case.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted the search on Tuesday at a residence along Route 38 in rural Franklin Grove. Prior to serving the warrant, officers conducted a traffic stop that led to the arrest of John MB Malovich, 36. Malovich was allegedly found with cocaine in his possession, resulting in a Class 4 felony charge for possession of a controlled substance.
Deputies reported that a stolen Cub Cadet Zero Turn lawn mower and multiple firearms were recovered from the property. Malovich, who has a prior conviction for domestic battery, now faces additional charges including three counts of possession of a firearm without a FOID card, classified as Class 3 felonies, as well as theft between $500 and $10,000.
Authorities stated that Malovich was released from custody under provisions of the Illinois SAFE-T Act.
The Sheriff’s Office urged residents to report suspicious activity or drug-related information by contacting the office directly at (815) 284-6631 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CAUGHT-U. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for rewards of up to $1,000 if the information results in an arrest.
