Kankakee, IL – The Kankakee Public Library will host an event spotlighting the heroic female spies of World War II on Saturday, September 21, at 10 a.m. The presentation features Kit Sergeant, a historical fiction author known for “The Women Spy Series,” who has researched these brave women extensively.
According to the library’s announcement, Sergeant will bring the stories of these women to life, revealing their critical role in the Special Operations Executive (SOE). The SOE, established by Winston Churchill, aimed to support resistance movements across Europe. Although many doubted their abilities, these women proved essential to the SOE’s mission. They adopted secret identities, undertook perilous missions, and protected their nation’s most sensitive secrets.
