Fort Worth, Texas – The early morning air feels calm over North Texas, but clouds are gathering fast along the Red River corridor. A sharp weather shift is coming, and by Friday morning, thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to roll across the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a strong storm system will bring multiple rounds of rain and possible thunderstorms from Friday morning through late Friday night. Some storms could produce heavy rainfall and minor flooding, especially in low-lying areas and along major roadways like I-35, I-20, and Loop 820. Residents should prepare for slow travel, slick pavement, and localized ponding on highways during the Friday commute.

Thursday remains dry and warm with highs near 85°F, but conditions deteriorate quickly as humidity surges overnight. The heaviest rainfall is expected Friday night, when totals between one and three inches could fall. By Saturday, cooler and drier air begins to move in from the west, ending rain chances by evening.

The weekend improves dramatically — Sunday looks mostly sunny, with highs near 78°F and a light northwest breeze, perfect for outdoor events and late-October plans.

Looking ahead to early next week, a mild pattern holds, but another front may arrive by midweek with another chance for rain and a drop in temperatures. Fall’s tug-of-war between warmth and chill is now firmly underway in North Texas — and Friday’s rain will mark that seasonal turning point.
