FORT WORTH, Texas — Clouds are thickening over North Texas this morning, and the air feels heavy — the kind that signals a long, wet day ahead. Multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms are expected to soak the Dallas–Fort Worth region from this afternoon through Monday, raising a growing flood concern for travelers heading out early for Thanksgiving week.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a Flood Watch is now in effect for much of North and Central Texas, including Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, Collin, and Parker counties, through Monday afternoon. Forecasters warn that 1 to 3 inches of rain are likely across the Metroplex, with isolated totals up to 4 inches in spots that already saw heavy rain last week. The heaviest rainfall is expected late Sunday into Monday morning. Urban areas, creeks, and poor-drainage zones may flood quickly as soils become saturated.

Drivers along I-35, I-20, and U.S. 75 should prepare for reduced visibility and possible hydroplaning during peak rain periods. The NWS urges residents in flood-prone neighborhoods to keep alert for rapidly changing conditions and avoid low-lying roadways. Power outages and flight delays at DFW International and Dallas Love Field are also possible during stronger thunderstorms.

Conditions will improve Monday night as storms clear east, giving way to sunshine and warmer air Tuesday. Thanksgiving Day looks quiet and pleasant, with highs in the low 60s and light winds — a welcome break after a soggy start to the holiday week.
