Fort Worth, TX – The National Weather Service in Fort Worth is warning residents across North and Central Texas to prepare for strong storms and possible flooding beginning Friday afternoon through Saturday.

According to the latest forecast, widespread showers and thunderstorms will move through the area late Friday afternoon into early Saturday, bringing the highest threat for severe weather and isolated flooding. Rain totals are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches, with localized amounts up to 5 inches possible in some areas.

Storm hazards include large hail, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours. The most intense storms are projected Friday evening, with additional rounds possible Saturday, particularly east of I-35 from Dallas-Fort Worth to Palestine and Canton.

The weather service cautions that even after recent dry conditions, heavy rainfall could still trigger isolated flash flooding, especially in low-lying or urban areas. Motorists are urged never to cross flooded roads and to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

A brief lull is expected Saturday morning before another round of storms redevelops in the afternoon and evening.

Residents in DFW, Waco, Killeen, Sherman, and surrounding counties should monitor local forecasts and be ready to adjust outdoor plans.
