Fort Worth, Texas – Severe storms are expected to sweep across North and Central Texas late Saturday into Sunday, with the most immediate threats of damaging winds and small hail developing before noon Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a storm complex moving in from the north will bring widespread showers and thunderstorms across the region between 5 a.m. and noon. The morning activity is expected to impact areas including Dallas-Fort Worth, Sherman, Canton, and Killeen, where gusty winds and pockets of hail could develop.
The threat escalates Sunday afternoon, primarily between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m., across Central Texas. Cities such as Waco, Temple, and Killeen face the greatest risk of severe weather, including large hail and damaging winds, with a low but non-zero tornado threat. Temperatures will rise into the low-to-mid 90s in Central Texas, further fueling storm development.
Drivers should avoid travel during the peak threat hours and secure outdoor items. Residents are advised to monitor local alerts and ensure devices are charged in case of outages.
Storm warnings may remain in effect through Sunday night, with additional storm chances returning early next week across North and Central Texas.
