Fort Worth, Texas – Afternoon thunderstorms may bubble up across parts of North Texas on Tuesday, but most areas will remain dry as triple-digit heat looms closer by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, isolated storms are possible Tuesday afternoon in counties including Tarrant, Parker, and Grayson, especially near Sherman, Canton, and Killeen. Rain chances remain limited, but any developing cells could bring brief downpours, gusty winds, and lightning.

Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, and Temple are all expected to stay in the mid to upper 90s through Saturday, with peak heat reaching 98°F on Wednesday and again Saturday. The week will be marked by hot and humid afternoons, with heat indices climbing into the low 100s.

Drivers across the Metroplex should use caution Tuesday, particularly during the late afternoon commute if storms develop. Residents are urged to hydrate, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and check on elderly neighbors or those without air conditioning.

While no widespread rain is expected, the isolated storms could briefly disrupt outdoor July 4th preparations. More persistent heat is forecast to continue into next weekend.

5-Day North Texas Forecast:

  • Tuesday: 96°F, isolated PM storms north of Waco
  • Wednesday: 98°F, sunny and hot
  • Thursday: 95°F, mostly sunny
  • Friday: 96°F, continued heat
