Fort Worth, TX – North Texas is gearing up for a stretch of active weather beginning Wednesday, with increasing thunderstorm chances, a risk for isolated severe storms, and heavy rainfall continuing into Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a few showers and an isolated storm may develop Wednesday morning and early afternoon, mainly west of I-35. Storm coverage increases significantly by late afternoon and evening as moisture deepens across the region.

Forecasters note a low threat for large hail Wednesday evening, especially west of the Metroplex near Graham, Cisco, and Killeen. Widespread showers and storms will then expand overnight, bringing a growing risk for locally heavy rain.

Storms continue through Thursday, with the potential for scattered thunderstorms across areas including Sherman, Paris, Canton, Waco, Dallas–Fort Worth, and Killeen. Heavy downpours could lead to an isolated flooding threat, especially where higher totals accumulate Wednesday night into Thursday.

Rain totals of 1–2 inches are likely across most of North Texas, but forecasters say about 10% of the region could see localized amounts near 4 inches, depending on where storms repeatedly track. Gusty winds may accompany stronger storms.

Forecasters emphasize that rainfall placement remains uncertain, and the flood threat will depend on where the first wave of heavy rain falls Wednesday night.
