Fort Worth, TX – A sharp cold front is on the way for North and Central Texas this weekend, bringing a dramatic temperature drop and the first freeze of the season to many areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the front will move in Saturday night, turning conditions windy and much colder by Sunday. Afternoon highs will fall from the low 80s Saturday to the upper 50s and low 60s Sunday, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph behind the front.

The coldest morning will arrive early Monday, when temperatures are forecast to dip into the upper 20s to mid-30s, especially across the Big Country and areas north of the DFW Metroplex. In urban centers like Dallas and Fort Worth, lows near 37°F are expected, while rural and sheltered areas could see readings as low as 28°F.

Forecasters urge residents to protect pets, plants, and pipes, and prepare for a cold, breezy Monday commute. The chill will linger into early Tuesday before gradual warming midweek.
