Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas – Even with highs staying in the 90s, heat index values across North and Central Texas could soar to 103° on Sunday, increasing the risk of heat-related illness for anyone spending extended time outdoors. Afternoon temperatures from Graham to Palestine will push well into the 90s, with the hottest conditions expected around 4 to 6 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, heat indices will range from 98° to 103°, especially in urban areas like DFW, Waco, and Sherman. Residents are urged to limit outdoor chores and exercise during peak heat hours and to watch for symptoms of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, nausea, and excessive sweating.

A 10% to 20% chance of isolated storms will persist from Palestine to Killeen Sunday afternoon, but no severe weather is expected. Light rain and occasional lightning may provide some temporary relief in southeastern counties.

High temperatures in Graham could hit 98°, while DFW peaks near 96°, and Killeen, Waco, and Cisco all near 95°. The heat risk is especially concerning for vulnerable populations without access to cooling centers or shade.

More heat advisories could be issued Monday as conditions remain hot and humid into the workweek.
