Detroit, MI – Rain showers could return to southeast Michigan Friday, setting up a soggy start to Father’s Day weekend with cooler air and unstable skies lingering through Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, a weak frontal boundary will stall over the region Friday into Saturday, increasing the chance of showers and a few isolated thunderstorms across Metro Detroit, especially along the I-75 corridor. Friday night brings a 40% chance of rain, rising to 50% by Saturday.
Drivers should use caution Friday evening, especially along US-23 and I-696, as intermittent showers may reduce visibility. While storms aren’t expected to be severe, lightning and brief downpours could disrupt outdoor plans.
Friday will top out around 75°F under mostly cloudy skies, with light easterly winds. Saturday brings more of the same, with a high near 74°F and continued chances for light to moderate rain.
Sunday should bring drier conditions, offering a partly sunny break just in time for Father’s Day events. Early next week turns warmer, with highs near 86°F by Tuesday. However, another round of thunderstorms could arrive as early as Tuesday night.
