Detroit, Michigan – Morning fog settled across southeast Michigan Friday, creating reduced visibility for commuters before clearing to mostly sunny skies and seasonable highs in the low 80s.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, the quiet weather will not last long. A round of scattered showers and thunderstorms is expected to develop Saturday afternoon and evening across Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Flint. Severe weather is not likely, but heavy downpours and lightning could disrupt outdoor events.
Temperatures will tumble by Sunday, with highs only reaching the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies. Cooler air will linger into early next week, keeping daytime highs in the upper 60s to low 70s across southeast Michigan. Residents are urged to plan ahead for outdoor activities, as Saturday’s storms could make travel hazardous and briefly delay flights at Detroit Metro Airport.
The National Weather Service says cooler-than-normal conditions will hold through midweek, with the next chance of widespread rain arriving later in the week.
