Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan is in for several days of summerlike weather, with sunshine and above-normal temperatures expected through Thursday before a cool front moves in at the end of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, highs will range between the upper 70s and mid-80s from Monday through Thursday. Conditions will remain dry, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 40s to mid-50s.
Wednesday and Thursday are forecast to be the warmest days, with highs reaching 85 to 86 degrees in many parts of the region. The weather service noted this stretch represents an “extended period of above normal temps and dry weather” for mid-September.
Changes are expected Friday when a cold front is projected to sweep across Southeast Michigan. Forecasters say this will bring slightly cooler conditions, with highs dropping into the upper 60s to low 80s and overnight lows settling in the upper 40s. A chance of showers may also develop with the passage of the front.
The dry, sunny spell could provide a welcome opportunity for outdoor activities across Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, and surrounding counties. However, officials advise residents to stay mindful of hydration and monitor forecasts later this week as the cold front approaches.
