Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan will enjoy sunny skies and mild fall temperatures today, but a cold front moving in tonight will bring a quick change to cooler, wetter conditions, according to the US National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac.
Forecasters say highs today will reach the upper 50s to low 60s under clear skies. By late tonight, rain showers will develop from west to east, followed by scattered showers and isolated non-severe thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Behind the front, much colder air will settle in across the region. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday are expected to hold in the low 50s, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 30s and low 40s. Occasional light showers may persist both days before drier weather returns to end the week.
Drivers should be alert for slick roads during Tuesday’s rainfall and allow extra travel time during the evening commute.
Communities including Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Flint will see the first significant taste of late October chill as the front pushes through.
