DETROIT, Mich. – Strong southwest winds are expected across southeast Michigan today, with gusts topping 30 to 35 mph making for a breezy start to the weekend. Afternoon highs will reach the mid-70s, but cooler overnight lows are likely to dip into the 40s.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit, most of the region will stay dry, though a brief rain shower may clip the Saginaw Bay area early this morning. From Saturday into Sunday, conditions turn calmer with no significant storm systems approaching the state.
Saturday will bring mostly cloudy skies with temperatures holding in the upper 60s, while Sunday looks partly sunny with highs in the mid-60s. Winds are forecast to ease back into the 10–15 mph range, keeping the weekend pleasant for outdoor plans across metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Flint.
Travelers should remain cautious during today’s stronger gusts, especially on north-south highways like I-75 and US-23, where crosswinds could affect high-profile vehicles.
The calm stretch should last into early next week, with only a slight chance of showers continuing near Saginaw Bay.
