Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan residents will see quiet, cool, and mostly sunny weather today, with temperatures reaching the low to mid-40s before a system brings chances for light snow and rain on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Detroit/Pontiac.

High pressure is keeping conditions dry today, offering a bright stretch of sun and seasonable temperatures. Overnight lows will fall into the mid-20s across much of the metro area.

According to the NWS, a low-pressure system tracking through Ohio on Tuesday will introduce a chance of light snow mainly south of I-69 during the morning hours. Some areas could see a brief period of light accumulation—generally less than an inch—before the precipitation transitions to a mix of rain and snow or all rain by the afternoon. Highs Tuesday are expected to reach the upper 30s to low 40s, with overnight lows again dipping into the 20s as clouds increase into Wednesday.

Wednesday brings a return to calmer conditions, with mostly sunny skies and highs near the mid-40s. No significant travel hazards are expected after Tuesday’s wintry mix, but drivers south of I-69 may experience brief slick spots during the morning commute.

Residents across Detroit, Wayne County, and the surrounding metro areas are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts in case Tuesday’s system shifts north or intensifies.
