DETROIT, Mich. – A weak cold front sliding through southeast Michigan will bring scattered showers Friday night into Saturday before high pressure restores drier air by Sunday. Temperatures will hover near typical mid-October levels, with highs in the 60s and cooler nights in the 40s.
According to the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac, increasing clouds Friday afternoon will lead to light rain showers late in the day, especially north and east of I-69. The Thumb region may see lingering rain early Saturday as the front exits toward Lake Huron. Saturday’s highs will reach the lower 60s, followed by crisp overnight lows in the mid-40s.
Travelers should watch for wet roads late Friday and early Saturday, particularly along I-75 and I-94. Outdoor events and football games may see brief showers but no widespread heavy rainfall. By Sunday, skies will turn partly sunny, and temperatures will recover into the upper 60s.
The NWS notes that dry and mild conditions are expected to continue into early next week, with a gradual warming trend. Residents are advised to dress in layers for chilly mornings and protect late-season garden plants from patchy frost in outlying areas if skies clear Saturday night.
