Detroit, MI – The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac reports that widespread rain and isolated thunderstorms are moving across Southeast Michigan this morning, Sunday, October 19, as a strong low-pressure system passes through the region.

According to the National Weather Service, gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 mph will accompany the rain through this afternoon and evening. The strongest gusts are expected in open and lakeshore areas, where travel may be affected by reduced visibility and ponding on roads.

High temperatures will range from the upper 50s to upper 60s before falling into the low 40s overnight. Monday will bring a brief dry period with partly sunny skies and highs near 60°F, but another round of showers is possible late Monday night into Tuesday.

By midweek, temperatures will trend cooler, with highs dipping into the low to mid-50s as the region transitions into a more unsettled fall pattern.

Residents are urged to use caution when driving in wet, windy conditions and to secure outdoor decorations or trash bins ahead of stronger gusts.
