Flurries and light snow showers are moving across Southeast Michigan early Tuesday, creating occasional slick travel conditions during the morning commute.
According to the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac, light snow and flurries are expected mainly this morning, with only minor dusting accumulations in spots. While widespread snowfall is not anticipated today, brief reductions in visibility and slick patches are possible along major corridors including Interstate 94, Interstate 75, Interstate 96, and U.S. 23.
High temperatures Tuesday are expected to range from the low to mid-20s, keeping road surfaces cold enough for snow to stick in untreated areas. Drivers traveling during the early morning hours should be alert for sudden changes in road conditions, particularly on bridges, ramps, and overpasses.
Cold conditions will continue through Wednesday, with temperatures remaining below normal for early February. Dry weather is expected for much of the day, which should allow road crews time to improve conditions where needed. However, shaded and low-traffic roads may remain slick at times due to lingering cold.
By Thursday, another system is expected to approach Southeast Michigan. The National Weather Service indicates light snow is likely by Thursday night, with accumulating snow possible into early Friday morning. While exact snowfall amounts have not yet been finalized, the timing could impact overnight travel and early-morning commuters along I-94, I-75, and surrounding expressways.
Motorists are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts, allow extra stopping distance, and reduce speeds during periods of flurries or light snow. Early-morning workers, students, and commuters should remain weather-aware as conditions can vary quickly over short distances.
