Detroit, Michigan – Light snow showers and flurries are expected across Southeast Michigan today, bringing cold temperatures and brief travel concerns along major corridors including I-75 and I-94.
According to the US National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac Facebook update posted early Wednesday morning, intermittent light snow showers or flurries are possible at times, with daytime highs ranging between 29 and 36 degrees. Overnight lows are expected to drop between 9 and 19 degrees.
Forecasters indicated dry conditions will follow Thursday, with highs between 27 and 37 degrees and lows ranging from 19 to 26 degrees. A significant warmup is expected Friday, when temperatures could climb between 45 and 54 degrees under warmer conditions.
The outlook into the weekend shows mostly cloudy skies Saturday, with highs between 32 and 45 degrees and a 25% to 50% chance of snow developing toward evening. Sunday is expected to turn colder, with highs between 20 and 32 degrees and a 20% to 30% chance of snow showers.
While snowfall amounts were not specified, brief flurries may reduce visibility during heavier bursts, particularly during peak travel hours on regional highways including I-696, M-59 and US-23.
Commuters, students and young workers traveling during morning and evening hours may encounter changing road conditions today before drier weather settles in Thursday.
