Detroit, MI – Authorities have charged three men in connection with the fatal shooting of a 6-year-old boy who was struck by gunfire inside his home on the city’s east side.

According to the Detroit Police Department, officers were dispatched on July 27 at approximately 8:58 p.m. to the area of Anglin Street and Stender Avenue after reports of gunfire. Relatives flagged down police outside a home in the 17400 block of Anglin Street, where they found young Rylee Love with a gunshot wound to the head. Medics transported the child to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators allege that the suspects — Demontrel Benard Wilson, 30, Deonate Cornealous Cherry, 28, and Terrance Jaland Blue, 28, all of Detroit — fired handguns multiple times from a vehicle into a group of people standing nearby. Stray bullets allegedly entered the residence, striking Rylee as he played inside. Police say the investigation ultimately led to the arrests of the three men on August 20.

Wilson, Cherry and Blue are charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first-degree murder, conspiracy to discharge firearms from a vehicle causing death, and weapons-related offenses. In addition, Wilson and Blue face charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that all suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The case remains under investigation by Detroit police as the community mourns the death of the child.
