Detroit, MI – Warm air surging into Michigan will trigger multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms, with the greatest travel impacts expected during the late afternoon and evening commute windows through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 70s south of I-69 and into the low 70s farther north on Monday, before reaching near 80°F by Tuesday. Isolated thunderstorms will begin Monday afternoon, but a more organized round of storms is expected Tuesday afternoon into the evening.

Across Metro Detroit, including Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and Warren, drivers on I-94, I-75, and I-696 could encounter sudden downpours reducing visibility below one mile. Localized ponding on roadways is possible during heavier cells, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

By Wednesday, a stronger system may bring more widespread showers and thunderstorms, along with slightly cooler temperatures dropping back into the mid-60s to mid-70s. Lightning and brief gusty winds will be the primary concerns with any storm.

Residents are urged to monitor changing conditions, secure outdoor items, and avoid flooded roadways during heavy rain. This unsettled pattern will persist through midweek, with additional updates likely as storm timing becomes more precise.
