Detroit, MI – A developing winter storm is forecast to bring widespread accumulating snow across southeast Michigan beginning late Saturday afternoon and continuing through Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac.

Snowfall will peak in intensity Saturday evening, with accumulation rates reducing visibility and creating slick, snow-covered roads during the busy post-Thanksgiving weekend. Forecasters expect 4 to 7 inches of snow across much of the region, including Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, and Port Huron.

While most areas will remain all snow through the duration of the storm, a brief mix or transition to rain is possible near the Ohio border early Sunday morning before colder air returns.

The NWS warns of slow commutes, hazardous untreated roads, and low visibility, especially during the evening and overnight hours. Motorists are advised to plan ahead, check road conditions, and allow extra time to reach destinations.

This system marks one of the first widespread snow events of the season for southeast Michigan. Meteorologists say additional forecast refinements are likely as the storm approaches, with updates expected later today.
