Detroit, MI – A stretch of calm fall weather in southeast Michigan will give way to a soggy weekend, with multiple rounds of rain and gusty winds expected through Sunday.
According to the US National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, Thursday will stay mostly sunny and mild, with highs in the mid-60s. Clouds increase Friday, and scattered showers are possible mainly north of Detroit, with highs climbing into the upper 60s.
A stronger system arrives Saturday, bringing periods of rain throughout the afternoon and evening. Rain chances rise to 70% Saturday night and reach 90% by Sunday, when wind gusts up to 30 mph are expected. Highs will range from the mid-70s Saturday to the mid-60s Sunday as cooler air filters in behind the front.
The weekend rain will provide beneficial moisture but could make travel slow, especially Sunday afternoon. Forecasters expect drier, cooler air to return early next week.
