Detroit, MI – The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac says southeastern Michigan will experience a chilly Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11, with a brief chance for light snow showers and wind chills dipping into the teens early in the day.

Forecasters report that lake-effect snow across Michigan’s Thumb region could bring an additional 1 to 2 inches of accumulation Monday evening before tapering off Tuesday morning. A 40% chance of light snow will persist through Tuesday, mainly north and east of Detroit, with daytime highs only reaching the upper 30s to around 40°F.

Winds will make conditions feel even colder, with “feels-like” temperatures in the mid to upper teens at sunrise. By midweek, however, a warming trend will take hold — highs are expected to rise into the mid-40s Wednesday and low 50s by Thursday, bringing milder and mostly sunny weather into the weekend.

Motorists should watch for slick spots early Tuesday morning, particularly in areas that receive overnight snow.
