Detroit, Michigan – Active weather is expected across southeast Michigan through the weekend, with fog, strong winds, rain, and a return to colder, wintry conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, Thursday will begin with areas of morning fog before turning partly sunny, with mild temperatures near 50 degrees and a south wind.

Rain becomes more widespread Thursday night as warmer air moves in, accompanied by strong south winds with gusts between 30 and 40 mph. Overnight temperatures are expected to remain well above normal, settling into the low to mid-40s.

Friday will start windy and rainy before gradually turning partly sunny. High temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-50s to near 60 degrees, approaching near-record levels for early January.

Conditions change Saturday as colder air begins moving into the region. Rain is expected across southern areas, while snow becomes more likely farther north, including portions of the Tri-Cities and Thumb, where minor accumulations are possible.

By Sunday, temperatures fall back toward seasonal levels, with highs around 30 degrees. Scattered snow showers are expected, signaling a return to winter-like conditions.

The National Weather Service advises residents to remain aware of rapidly changing weather conditions, especially during periods of strong wind, rain, and potential snow this weekend.
