Des Plaines River Search Underway After Vehicle Found Submerged

Rockdale, IL – Authorities are combing the Des Plaines River after a vehicle was found plunged into the water late Monday night.

According to Rockdale Fire Chief David Brady, the incident occurred at approximately 10:47 PM when security footage captured the vehicle traveling south on Brandon Road before leaving the roadway and falling into the river. The vehicle was discovered the following morning.

The Rockdale Fire Protection District, alongside multiple agencies, is conducting an extensive search for the vehicle. Rescue teams are using boats with side scan capabilities and a remote-operated vehicle with sonar, with divers performing guided searches based on these scans.

Agencies involved include MABAS Division 15 Water Rescue, Rockdale Police, Will County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, and others. Authorities request the public to avoid the area until the search operations are complete.
