Des Moines, Iowa – A few scattered showers and thunderstorms could pass through parts of Iowa on Monday, though most of the state will remain dry. The National Weather Service in Des Moines reports that the storms will be intermittent, occurring off and on throughout the day, with only a very low chance for severe weather.
According to forecasters, any thunderstorm activity is expected to be brief and isolated, making it unlikely to cause widespread travel disruptions. However, localized downpours could still lead to slick roads, particularly in rural areas. Residents are advised to keep an eye on changing skies if they have outdoor plans.
Communities across central and western Iowa, including Ames, Fort Dodge, and Atlantic, could see brief thunder rumbles or light rain at times. The risk of damaging winds or hail is minimal, but lightning remains a hazard—outdoor events should have a shelter plan ready.
Showers should taper off by late Monday evening, with more stable weather expected into Tuesday.
