Des Moines, IA – A period of active weather is expected today across most of Iowa, with scattered showers and storms likely from noon to early evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, some storms could become strong to severe, with strong winds posing the main threat. There is also a possibility of small hail and a brief funnel cloud. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and have multiple ways to receive warnings. The highest risk period is expected between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Outdoor plans should be reconsidered, and indoor shelter should be taken if necessary.
