Des Moines, IA – A band of rain will move across central Iowa late this afternoon and evening, bringing light showers and gusty north winds, according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines.
Forecasters expect up to one quarter inch of rain in most areas before the system shifts east overnight. Winds from the north could gust between 25 and 30 mph, creating blustery evening conditions across Des Moines, Ames, and surrounding communities.
According to the weather service, the gusty winds will gradually ease overnight into Sunday morning. Sunday will bring sunny skies and cooler temperatures, with highs only reaching the low 60s.
Travelers should remain cautious on rural roads tonight as slick spots and low visibility may occur during heavier showers. The system is expected to clear out by early Sunday, giving way to calm and dry weather to close the weekend.
