Denver, CO – A weak weather system is expected to move across Colorado today, bringing light snow to the mountains and rain showers to portions of the plains through tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, snowfall will mainly occur south of Interstate 70, with accumulations of 1 to 2 inches possible in mountain areas near Breckenridge, Fairplay, and Vail. Light rain is expected across the plains, especially south and east of the Denver metro area, where rainfall totals could range between 0.1 and 0.5 inches.
While the system is not expected to bring significant impacts, slick spots may develop on higher elevation roads and mountain passes overnight. Commuters traveling through the I-70 corridor and foothill regions are advised to drive with caution.
Conditions are forecast to improve by Monday morning as the system exits the region. More stable and dry weather is expected midweek before colder air returns ahead of the weekend.
