DENVER, Colo. – Colorado heads into a stretch of hotter-than-normal weather this weekend, with highs in Denver expected to reach the upper 80s and possibly 90 degrees through Wednesday before cooler air and storms move in by late next week. Smoky skies will linger across much of the Front Range, reducing visibility and air quality into Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, scattered afternoon and evening storms will develop over the mountains each day, with just a few pushing into the plains on Sunday. A stronger storm is possible then, bringing gusty winds and brief downpours.

Cities from Boulder to Fort Collins can expect highs in the low to mid-80s, while Greeley and Longmont may approach 90 through midweek. Mountain towns such as Estes Park and Breckenridge will stay cooler, holding in the 70s with daily thunderstorm chances.

Drivers should be alert for sudden downpours in the high country, while Front Range residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during smoky afternoons. Storm chances are expected to increase again late Thursday into Friday, bringing cooler weather into next weekend.
