Denver, Colorado – Scattered severe thunderstorms could bring large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes to parts of Colorado until 8 p.m. Thursday, with the greatest risk centered along the I-25 Corridor, Palmer Divide, and eastern plains.

According to the National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, storms will develop this afternoon over the mountains and foothills before pushing eastward. The highest threat window is between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., with short-lived tornadoes possible, especially in areas including Limon, Fort Morgan, and Burlington. A “Marginal” to “Slight” risk for severe weather has been issued, with large hail being the primary hazard.

Residents from Castle Rock to Sterling are urged to secure outdoor items, stay weather-aware, and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Strong winds could down power lines and trees, while hail may cause damage to vehicles and crops. Travel across eastern Colorado may become hazardous, particularly on U.S. 287 and I-70.

This storm system will usher in a sharp cooldown tonight, with scattered showers expected Friday and temperatures dipping into the 40s and 50s.

Further weather updates and advisories may follow later today as storm conditions evolve.
