Denver, Colo. – Gusty winds and scattered thunderstorms could make for a turbulent Saturday across the Denver metro, with temperatures holding in the low 90s before a stretch of drier, hotter weather builds early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms will develop Saturday afternoon, with the strongest storms capable of producing wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph. The system is expected to linger into the evening before tapering off overnight.

Highs will remain in the low 90s across the Front Range Saturday and Sunday, with only a slight chance of storms by Sunday afternoon. Winds could still gust up to 15 mph at times, particularly during the evening hours.

By Monday, conditions dry out further with just a 20 percent storm chance before shifting to mostly sunny skies Tuesday through Thursday. Temperatures are projected to climb into the mid-90s by midweek, raising heat concerns for outdoor workers and travelers.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat, secure loose outdoor items ahead of strong wind gusts, and monitor updates for changing storm threats.

Storm chances return by Friday, when another round of afternoon thunderstorms is possible.
