Denver, Colorado – Drivers heading into Colorado’s mountains today face slick and snow-covered roads as steady snowfall continues through the evening, especially across high-elevation passes.
According to the National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, mountain areas will see ongoing snow through Wednesday night, with totals ranging from 3 to 10 inches. The heaviest accumulation is expected along the Front Range mountains and central high country, including areas near I-70, Berthoud Pass, and Rocky Mountain National Park.
Road conditions are expected to deteriorate at times, particularly on higher elevation routes where snow will continue to fall through the day. Visibility may drop during heavier bursts, creating hazardous travel for both morning and evening commuters.
Across the foothills and plains, including Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins, rain showers will develop mainly during the afternoon and early evening hours. A weak thunderstorm cannot be ruled out, especially along the urban corridor.
Drivers traveling between Denver and mountain destinations should allow extra time, reduce speed, and check COtrip.org for real-time updates.
Snow is expected to taper off later tonight, but slick conditions may linger in the mountains into early Thursday.
