Denver, CO – From Grand Junction to Pueblo and Denver, forecasters are tracking a mixed bag of weather across Colorado today, with isolated severe storms, mountain rainfall, and flash flooding risks in the San Juan Mountains, according to the National Weather Service.

The Denver/Boulder office reports mostly cloudy skies across the Front Range, with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms expected in the mountains this afternoon. Highs will range from the 60s in the mountains to the 70s and low 80s across the plains.

In western Colorado, the Grand Junction office notes that isolated severe thunderstorms are possible from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m., particularly near the Utah border. These storms may bring strong winds and localized flash flooding.

Farther south, the Pueblo Weather Service warns of heavy rainfall and a Flash Flood Watch in effect for the eastern San Juan Mountains, including Wolf Creek Pass and Cumbres Pass, through late tonight. Saturated slopes could trigger mudslides and debris flows, and travelers are urged never to drive through flooded roadways.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve by Sunday, with drier, more stable air returning to much of the state ahead of the Columbus Day holiday.
