Denver, CO – The National Weather Service in Denver has extended a Winter Weather Advisory through Wednesday evening for much of the Front Range, warning of heavy snow and difficult travel conditions from Fort Collins to Castle Rock and across the foothills west of Denver.

Forecasters expect 2 to 4 inches across Fort Collins and northern Weld County, 3 to 6 inches in the Denver metro and Boulder areas, and up to 11 inches in the southern foothills, including Evergreen, Idaho Springs, and Bailey. Snow began overnight and will continue through the day, tapering off by late Wednesday night.

According to the weather service, roads will become slick and snow-packed, especially during the Wednesday morning and afternoon commutes. Visibility may drop quickly during periods of heavier snow, and travel across I-25, U.S. 36, and mountain routes west of Denver could be slow or hazardous.

Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra time, and check cotrip.org or call 511 for current road conditions. Snow is expected to ease by late evening, though temperatures will remain below freezing, keeping roads icy into Thursday morning.
