Denver, Colorado – Scattered thunderstorms are expected across the mountains south of I-70 this evening, bringing cooler temperatures to higher elevations. While storm coverage will be less extensive further north, areas just east of the mountains, including parts of the Denver metro area, face a slight chance of an isolated evening storm.

According to the US National Weather Service Denver/Boulder Colorado, temperatures in the mountains tonight will drop to between 43 and 53 degrees Fahrenheit. The foothills can expect isolated evening thunderstorms with partly cloudy skies and overnight lows ranging from 50 to 62 degrees. On the plains, there’s only a slight chance of an evening storm near the foothills, with most areas seeing mostly clear skies and temperatures between 56 and 66 degrees.

Residents in mountainous regions south of I-70 should be aware of potential heavy downpours and localized flooding risks. Travelers should exercise caution on mountain roads due to reduced visibility and slick surfaces. While the immediate Denver area has a lower risk, those near the foothills should remain alert for any sudden changes in weather. Ensure outdoor furniture is secured and be prepared for a quick shift in conditions.

The threat of scattered storms will diminish as the night progresses. Conditions are expected to clear up by Saturday morning, with more stable weather on the horizon for the weekend. Warnings remain in effect through tonight for the affected mountain and foothill regions.
